ABOUT

ABOUT US

In 1894 John Wolf built The Wolf Hotel as an addition to the Delmonico Hotel which stood just north of the building which is now the Sunflower Bank parking lot. The addition added several rooms to the Hotel along with a new lobby, underground stores and the Bank of Ellinwood. The Bank was the last to open due to intricate tile work being laid. The lobby sat on the east side of the building and the bank sat on the west. Downstairs, which was part of the underground tunnel system that ran through Ellinwood, was the Drummer's room and Joe's Snack Counter. The downstairs changed many times over the years, becoming Weber's Sample Room, the local library, a gym, and an underground bar and card room. The downstairs still houses the very first air conditioner in Barton County. The Sunflower dining room, added in 1924 by Fred Wolf (John Wolf's son) was a prestigious restaurant that attracted people from many places with its amber lighting and wheat shock columns. In the early 80s, the hotel functioned as an antique store and was sold to Christopher McCord in 2013 with the vision of returning it to its former glory.

THE MANOR
Ellinwood, KS

This historic building built in the late 1800s is a former Catholic Rectory that used to be located beside the town's Catholic church. When the church decided to build a new rectory in 1941, the building was moved to a residential area and purchased by us in 2017. Located only 3 blocks away from The Wolf, The Manor is often used as overflow for The Historic Wolf Hotel. It is very similar to the Wolf with a common kitchen, a parlor, a dining room, with most rooms having their own private bathroom. Your stay here will be just as memorable as The Wolf.

AD BOARDING HOUSE
ELLINWOOD, K
S

AD Boarding House is one of our newer additions. Located across the street from the Wolf Hotel, located in the Historic Dick Building on the second floor. The main floor of the building housed a general store, with the tunnels, harness shop, barber shop and bathhouse way below. The Rooms you would be staying in were once used as different office rooms, which would house an assortment of traveling doctors. We have now got it to a state that we can host you here as we continue to work and improve. AD's is still a work in progress but we have a hard time getting rid of its original flooring. Rooms have their own charm and are a little ruff for wear, but if your looking to lay your head in a very old and a little creepy building, this is your place. Hopefully the ghosts won't keep you up at night. AD #2 is complete with a single bath, Queen size bed in one room and another room with Queen size bed, a private living room, and small kitchen.
